China - Day 759 - HongKong
This afternoon we went to the Chinese Permanent Cemetery at Yau Tong where Huang Jia Jv has his ashes. YingYing explained that her grandparents are not in a permanent cemetery. What I gather is that their ashes are at a shrine and that space is rented by the family, so one option for the future is that while there is still family alive who remember them, to scatter their ashes at sea.

China - Day 751
Spent the morning packing for our trip back to the UK. I now have stuff at YingYing's parents' house in Harbin, her auntie's house in Shenyang, at Fuat's sister's flat in Istanbul, at dad's house in Romsey, his friend David's house across the road, Tony's house in West Heath and a Big Yellow Storage in central Birmingham, as well as my furniture in two flats also in central Birmingham. Time to rationalize?!

Off to the Snow Festival. Beautiful ice sculptures at an astronomical price. Tourists pay 330CNY and Harbin locals pay 150CNY. The sculptures are beautiful though..........

China - Day 745
Sat with YingYing and her mother in the back of the car. We went to the cemetery. We climbed up the hill through rows of tombstones and YingYing's brother lit some josticks. Mother laid some fruit on top of the tomb and knelt down and bowed head to the ground three times. YingYing and her brother and father followed suit, Then we went to the burning field to set light to the papers and they said some things to their relatives in the sky. There were lots of other people there doing similar.
